Why Aren’t College Coaches Coming to high school games? 1. When watching a high school game, the college coach has to wade through many talent levels and ages. There are only two teams playing. As a college coach, I went to a couple days of the state playoffs every year. That was it, no regular season games.

In many programs, posting on social media accounts is discouraged (or outright banned) in-season. Their scholarships can be used as a weapon to guarantee adherence with a program’s dictates.

The #1 pick may not have played college basketball. The POTY may have been in an optimal position to succeed (great program, great coach, great teammates) etc, but other players on worse teams may be better. The college game and the pro game are very different in terms of what skills are needed.

Why aren’t college athletes paid? You can take a position that college athletes are into sports and dedicate too much time and effort to sports and it’s logical that such work should be paid. College coaches are making too much money. Many coaches have certain bonuses and opportunity contracts if their team wins a certain game or tournament.
