So, considering that it’s a country that loves all kinds of sport, and where soccer (or football) and cricket have massive followings, it’s remarkable that basketball has been left out in the relative cold in the UK. After all, it’s somewhere not generally known for its great weather and a place where all kinds of events have to be called off because of rain, snow and even strong wind.

Simply put, we do not have the grass roots infrastructure to develop young players the way other countries do - basketball isn't even a top 30 sport in the UK. I don't know the current state of Team GB, but we used to have a huge presence (a reliance really) on players who had Naturalised in the UK, and/or had dual citizenship.
